Thank you for contacting the Customer Relations Department of Aegean Airlines and please accept our apologies for the delay in replying to you which is due to heavy work load.
As you are already familiar with, as a result of the work suspensions of Air Traffic Control Personnel on October 5th 2011, Aegean Airlines was forced to cancel all of its flights.
According to the European Regulation 261/2004, 14th paragraph, “…obligations on operating air carriers should be limited or excluded in cases where an event has been caused by extraordinary circumstances which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Such circumstances may, in particular, occur in cases of political instability, meteorological conditions incompatible with the operation of the flight concerned, security risks, unexpected flight safety shortcomings and strikes that affect the operation of an operating air carrier.”
However, passengers whose flights are cancelled are entitled either to be fully refunded or be rebooked to the next available flight or any flight without any additional charge.
Mr. , please forward to us the relevant receipts (hotel accommodation and meals) so as to investigate your case and inform you accordingly.
Awaiting for your response.
