AirAsia Zest cancels Boracay-China flights after travel advisory(在中国旅游建议后亚航宣布取消长滩-中国航线)
MANILA – AirAsia Zest on Tuesday has temporarily suspended its flights from Boracay to China after a travel warning issued by Beijing.
“We have temporarily suspended our services for Kalibo (Boracay) to Shanghai and Beijing at the request of the company that chartered our flights and in relation to the travel warning issued by the Chinese government,” AirAsia Zest said in a statement.
The cancellation is effective on September 18, 2014 until further notice.
The airline’s Manila to China flights however were not affected by the cancellation.
“Guests who purchased seats for Kalibo – Shanghai route via www.airasia.com and through ATSC (AirAsia Travel and Service Center) may be re-accommodated on the same flight as soon as we resume operation; may be booked via alternate route (Kalibo – Manila – Shanghai and vice versa); may ask for a full refund; or convert the amount paid for their ticket to a credit shell which is valid for 90 days,” the airline said.
Credit shell may be used to purchase seats to any AirAsia destination, products and services.
Guests of chartered flights, however, are advised to contact their travel agency or operators for assistance.
Last Friday, the Chinese government issued a travel advisory against the Philippines after a Chinese teenager was kidnapped in Zamboanga Sibugay.
Data from the Department of Tourism show that the Chinese visitors in the Philippines reached 426,352 last year, 69.94 percent higher year-on-year.
