NEW DELHI, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- AirAsia India is set to expand its network in the country by adding three more destinations from Pune, the second largest metropolis in the state of Maharashtra, reported the Pune Mirror.
The first flight out of Pune will be to Chandigarh on Nov 30 and the airline has also scheduled services to Jaipur and Goa from the city.
"AirAsia is launching the Bangalore-Pune-Goa, Bangalore-Pune-Chandigarh and Bangalore-Pune-Jaipur routes from Nov 30. These flights will be on a daily basis," the report quoted Pune Airport Director, Manoj Kumar Gangal as saying.
The flights will benefit the tourism sector immensely, Pune Travel Agent Association (PTAA) Director, Nilesh Bhansali said.
According to the report, tourism to places like Shimla-Kulu-Manali depends on Chandigarh as it's the closest airport.
"Besides, the number of people visiting Goa is also on the rise. There are currently only two flights to Goa. An additional flight will definitely get an overwhelming response," Nilesh said.
AirAsia, a joint venture by AirAsia Bhd of Malaysia, the Tata Group and Telstra Trade place, launched its domestic operations in India on June 12.
