From Kota Kinabalu minvans and share taxis leave from Padang Merdeka for Kota Belud 06:00-18:00 when full (two hours 15 ringgit).
From Kota Belud minvans and share taxis leave from the area east of KFC. To get to Kudat, take a share taxi to Marudu (18 ringgit), then another to Kudat (12 ringgit).

Boat
Unfortunately, you can’t turn up at the jetty and get a boat to Mantanani Islands, trips must be pre-booked as a daytrip or part of an accommodation package. Boats leave from Kuala Abai and each company has their own jetty, but there are plans afoot for boats to leave from a centralised jetty.

A taxi from Kota Belud to Kuala Abai for boats to Mantanani Island takes 30 minutes (30 ringgit).
